Dear Parent or Guardian,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this coming school year.
I have been teaching for a total of thirteen years. This will be my sixth year here at Powers Ferry Elementary School as a third-grade teacher. I have four children and have been married for twenty-one years.
My belief is that all children can learn and succeed with a positive attitude and high standards. Working together, we can achieve this goal.
Additional information about the class is attached to this letter. Please sign and return the bottom portion of that form.
Finally, if you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns I am available each day before and after school for phone calls 770-578-7936 or meetings by appointment. You may also contact me via e-mail [email protected].
Let’s have a great year!
Sincerely,
Tasha Hefner
Things to Note…
Homework
Homework assignments will be given every night. Please, look at the homework log for homework assignments. Initial your child’s finished homework to show that you have seen it. If any answers need correcting, then they will be circled. Please, have your child correct any missed answers at home.
AR
Every nine week period, students set an AR point goal. Students are encouraged to meet their AR goals with at least 80% accuracy. Please, make sure your child reads at least 20 minutes daily.
Multiplication Facts
Your child must know by memory their multiplication facts up to the tens. Please practice these facts daily!
Uniforms
Please wear a yellow, black, or white shirt with a collar daily along with khaki or navy blue or black colored pants/skirts or dresses. Dark colored belts must be worn with pants.
Tuesday Folders
Classwork and graded work go home weekly along with other important school information. Please check and sign your child’s Tuesday folder weekly for these materials.
Behavior
I will be introducing rules and practicing classroom procedures with the class during the first week of school. Students learn more effectively when misbehaviors are at a minimum.
A behavior chart located in your child’s homework folder will be sent home for you to review and sign daily. There is a code at the bottom of the behavior chart that will help you understand how your child behaved that day.
Classroom Rules
Panther P.A.W. Rules:
- Practice being respectful to your school, school materials, yourself, and others.
- Always sit up straight and safe, use classroom hand signals, and wait for teacher acknowledgement.
- Work without stopping, quitting, or disturbing others.
